Bastyr University invites applications and nominations for the position of Vice President for Development. The University seeks an outstanding professional to lead its philanthropy efforts towards the achievement of its mission and strategic goals.
Bastyr University, with the main campus located in suburban Seattle, Washington, is a regionally accredited, multi-disciplinary institution for higher education and research in the natural health sciences. Founded as a naturopathic medical school in 1978, it is the leading university for natural health sciences in the United States. Enrollment reaches 1100 students in a broad range of undergraduate, graduate and professional degree programs in the natural health and applied behavioral sciences. A San Diego campus, Bastyr University California, opened in the Fall of 2012. In both locations, Bastyr enjoys close proximity to breathtaking marine and mountain environments, an abundance of cultural, educational, and recreational opportunities and a high quality of life.
The Vice President for Development is the chief philanthropy officer, reports to the President of the University, and has overall responsibility for developing and implementing strategic plans and programs for the annual fund, major gifts, planned giving, grant seeking, corporate and foundation giving, and special events. Working closely with the President, the Board of Trustees, and the senior leadership team, this person will be actively involved in identifying and researching donor prospects and cultivating relationships with potential private and corporate donors. The appointee is expected to take office in Spring 2014.
