Consider becoming a key member of the Bastyr University Information Technology team, where we honor passion for excellence while encouraging work-life balance.

With the rapid growth of Bastyr University’s new California campus, Bastyr’s Information Technology department is ready to hire our first IT professional in San Diego. The incumbent in this position will serve as network administrator for that location and beyond, working closely with IT staff members in the Seattle area (and serving as backup for our Seattle-area Network Administrator II). Other duties will include serving as the Epic Systems Electronic Health Records (EHR) support person in our Bastyr University California (BUC) clinic (training will be provided), and as the general HelpDesk support person for BUC staff, faculty and students.

 

Qualifications: 

This position requires a minimum of three years’ experience working in information technology, with a minimum two years of Windows networking experience (AD, DNS, DHCP, etc.) and at least one year in a network environment with at least 150 users. A minimum of one years’ experience in an Exchange/Lync environment is preferred, as is experience with Epic Systems or another EHR system. Experience working with vendors and reviewing proposals is desirable; IP phone/telephony experience is also a plus. A four-year college degree in computer science or equivalent experience is required; excellent attention to detail, and excellent written and oral communication skills are critical.

We will expect the successful candidate to be highly proficient in Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office, and be a quick and independent learner for other programs. S/he will be proficient in such things as WAN operations, backup equipment and procedures, VLAN segmentation, Internet and E-mail administration, and Windows Server 2003, 2008, and 2012. S/he must be able to lift and move computers, monitors, printers and other hardware, and must be self-motivated, able to work without close supervision, handle multiple tasks, and prioritize accordingly. S/he will be competent in troubleshooting hardware and software of servers, routers, and firewalls, and should be comfortable with wireless technologies.
