Duties:

Assist center faculty/physicians with incoming patient phone calls.  This may include triaging the need for appointments, preparing charts for provider action (prescription refills, laboratory requisitions, clarification on instructions, reporting of lab results, etc.), and responding to other providers. Take lead role in developing new clinic programs as directed by the clinic medical director (for example: childhood vaccination program). Facilitate referrals for patients; i.e. set up urgent appointments, inform patients of referred appointment date and location, coordinate with medical records to send needed chart notes to referred providers. Develop and implement a system for patient recall and follow-up information from provider into practice management software. Work with providers to develop call list for each provider of needed call backs, check-ins and provide needed charts to providers. Monitor, maintain and order supplies and coordinate refresher training for in-house (CLEA waived) lab and other clinical service areas. Performs primarily back-office functions with limited patient contact including phone, referrals, vaccinations, and special procedures (e.g. EKG, spirometry, in-house lab etc.).  Coordinate with patient services, the business office, the providers, and the clinic administration on various tasks.

 

Qualifications: 

A minimum of 1-2 years’ experience as a Medical Assistant. A two-year AA technical degree from an accredited Medical Assistant program or school, a CPR certification AND a valid Medical Assistant certification in the state of Washington are required. Knowledge of patient confidentiality policies, HIPAA, Universal Precautions, clinic operations, and patient safety. Ability to multi-task and prioritize. Self-starter with demonstrated history of systems development. Excellent customer service skills. Demonstrates expertise in the use of Word, Excel, and EPIC patient database software. 

Work Schedule – Part-time (30-32 hours per week) Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday until 9pm, Saturdays; other fill in times may also be necessary.
