Bastyr University is looking for a Cook to prepare Natural Foods for Kenmore Campus Dining Commons.
Responsibilities: Prepare and maintain hot foods including entrees, vegetables, sauces and condiments for the daily menu and catered events. Prepare and maintain cold foods including greens, salad bar vegetables, special salad(s), and dressings for the daily menu and catered events. Set up the salad bar for the main dining room and catering to conference dining rooms. Set up hot tables for the main dining room and conferencing as needed. Report to chef regarding any items needed for the menu. Responsible for cooking areas, seeing that they are kept clean and orderly throughout the day and at the end of the shift. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Must have large quantity experience including catering, university setting and health care facility. Thorough knowledge of a full range of cooking techniques, including sautéing, grilling, frying, baking, vegetable preparation procedures, and correct mixing techniques for various cold preparations. Must know King County Health Codes for food service, and be in possession of a Washington State Food Handlers Permit.
Skills: Must be able to accurately identify the various stages of cooking; be proficient in the use of hand tools and commercial appliances used in quantity cooking; be proficient in cutting technique. Must be able to communicate clearly in order to work with other kitchen staff to accomplish diverse tasks in a limited time frame.
