Dr. Given's interests include HIV/AIDS, recovery/addiction treatment, oncology, curriculum/accreditation, and acupuncture and Oriental medicine research.
Philosophy
Dr. Given believes that as the role of acupuncture and Oriental medicine evolves in a culture that values integrated treatment over isolated specialties, it will become progressively more important for Bastyr graduates to become competent in working in a collaborative health care environment. His goal as a clinician is to provide the best possible care in collaboration with a patient's team of providers. Dr. Given's goal as an educator is to train acupuncture and Oriental medicine clinicians to provide the best possible care in collaboration with a broad range of clinical providers.
