Leanna J Standish, ND, PhD, MSAOM

Naturopathic Medicine

Education
PhD in Neuroscience/Biopsychology from the University of Massachusetts in 1978; ND from Bastyr University in 1991; and MSAOM from Bastyr University in 1994. She is board certified in naturopathic oncology.

Past Experience
Dr. Standish was formerly the director of the Bastyr University Research Institute from 1987-2001. Previously Dr. Standish was senior fellow in biophysics, assistant professor at Smith College, and completed postdoctoral work at Yerkes Primate Center and University of Massachusetts.

Current Roles
Dr. Standish is currently a research professor for the School of Naturopathic Medicine at Bastyr, a clinical professor for the School of Public Health at the University of Washington, a senior physician at the University Health Clinic Specialty Care & Research Center, and has been the principal investigator for several NIH research grants since 1994.

Classes Taught
Death and Dying; Pulmonology; Science, Spirituality and Medicine

Interests
Naturopathic oncology and neurology; chronic hepatitis C; and basic neuroscience research

Philosophy
Dr. Standish's teaching is about developing excellent physicians and physician/scientists.
